Do you sell to any shops?
At the moment we do not. Charlie Boots garments are only available on the Charlie Boots website and on a few other ethically focused websites. We will sometimes do ‘pop-up shops’ and so if you are not yet signed up to the newsletter then do keep an eye on the ‘news’ section for forthcoming events. our next one is Portobello market October and November 2010.
Why do you only make one of some garments?
A lot of Charlie Boots clothing is made from re-claimed fabrics. This often includes vintage fabrics or fabric samples that a fabric wholesaler no longer sells. These are usually fairly small pieces. It means you get something very unique!
Are your vintage fabrics really vintage or made to look so?
If it is stated that a fabric is vintage then it is from whichever era is specified. Some fabrics are vintage but we don’t know the exact date so we will give you an approximation and let you know that it is so.
Where do the vintage fabrics come from?
We often use fabrics from old Japanese kimonos or cotton feed sacks that come from Japan and the USA respectively. Other fabrics come from private collectors or vintage/retro shops. We use fabrics dating back as far as the 1930’s.
Why do you bind garments?
Binding is a couture method of finishing a garment. It is more common now to overlock garments which is a quicker and cheaper method of production. Binding strengthens the seams of a garment, helping it to last longer. It also looks a lot neater and of course it means that we are able to make many of the garments reversible.
Do you do made-to-order?
As a general rule we do not. However, if a design is being repeated in a different fabric, then we may able to add your request to the order. You may be able to choose your fabric (from ours, not your own) but not make adaptations to the design. Please contact us to see if we are able to help you.
What is a re-claimed fabric?
This includes fabrics that were heading for landfill, about to be made into industrial wipers, unwanted fabrics from private individuals and new fabric from a company that sells fabrics that are no longer required for their original intended purposes. (e.g partly damaged rolls, end-of-line)
Can I have a sample of the fabric before I buy the item?
Yes if we still have some of the fabric. Please email with your address and details of the items that you are interested in. If you live overseas we ask that you pay £1 for this service.
Is it safe to use my credit card?

How much is the postage and how long will I wait for my purchase?
Please go to the shipping section on the bottom menu bar for more information on this. If your item is not with you within 10 days of you making your order then please contact us immediately.
How do I know that my purchase will fit?
On each product page there is a 'size guide'. This will take you to a page that gives you size guides and their conversions for Italy, France, USA and Japan.
How do I know that you received my order?
After you place your order, you will receive an email confirmation which will contain an order reference number. Please check your spam folder for this if it is not in your inbox. This does not mean we have accepted your order. Once your credit card has been approved, the receiving address has been verified, and the item has been located, your order will be accepted and the item shipped.
What payment methods do you accept?

Is my package insured?

What do I get if I sign up for a newsletter?
You will be notified when there are several new designs in stock, given discount codes, be informed about any ‘pop-up’ shops or fairs that we may be selling at and be the first to know about new collections that become available. This may be clothing, shoes or other accessories. Charlie Boots designs are limited edition so once they are gone, they are gone.

Do you ship to multiple addresses?
During the checkout process, you will be asked to select the shipping address for your order. At this time, you can ship your online order to only one location, which may be different to your billing address if it is a gift. Your order may include several gifts that require shipping to several different locations. To do this you will be required to place separate orders for each address you wish to ship to.
Can I order and pay over the telephone?
Yes you can. Call us on 0845 2725 219. If we are not there to take the call you can leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can. It is also advisable to email us with a contact number as it might be that we receive the email before the phone message.
Are your finishings in any way 'ethical'?
All of the zips and almost all of the buttons are rescued from a business that was about to send them to landfill. They are high quality YKK zips, fabric covered and other excellent quality buttons.
The binding is bought from a family owned UK business (and the people who work there always seem very cheerful!)
The guterman thread that is used is produced under the guidelines of the oekotex standard 100 (an international testing and certification system that limits the use of environmentally damaging chemicals)
